At Bramming Culture and Leisure Centre, space and hall times were not used effectively – and local football players trained in an external hall outside the city due to lack of capacity.
With insights from HallMonitor, Sport & Event Park Esbjerg managed to make room for indoor football during winter, optimise the use of facilities, and create more activity in the hall.
Sport & Event Park Esbjerg has successfully used data from HallMonitor to improve the utilisation of indoor facilities at Bramming Culture and Leisure Centre. By analysing how the halls were actually used, it became clear that capacity was not being used optimally – and that more activities could be gathered in one place.
This made it possible to engage in constructive, data-driven dialogue with local sports associations and reallocate space and time, creating room for indoor football – an activity that had previously been forced to use an external hall. The result was better utilisation, more active members, and increased life in the facility.
Before using HallMonitor, Sport & Event Park Esbjerg had a clear sense that capacity at Bramming Culture and Leisure Centre was not used effectively. Many bookings involved few participants, and large areas were left unused. That raised the need to investigate how the hall was actually being used – which is where HallMonitor came into play.
At the same time, local football training was happening off-site, because integrating it into Bramming Culture and Leisure Centre hadn’t been prioritised. As football is traditionally considered an outdoor sport, it had been hard to justify its need for indoor facilities. Concrete data was needed to present a true picture of usage, not just bookings.
“We used HallMonitor as a qualified foundation for our dialogue with clubs. Instead of saying ‘we think’, we could say ‘we can see’,” says Jacob Drachmann Haag, Head of Activities & Hosting, Sport & Event Park Esbjerg
With HallMonitor, Sport & Event Park Esbjerg got a clear picture of when the halls were in use and how many people were present. This made it possible to identify time slots with low occupancy and start a constructive and fact-based conversation with local clubs.
Together with the clubs, they restructured the use of the halls so that football could get access to a full hall during winter. A key benefit was that football boards could remain in place throughout the season, making it practically possible to train without the hassle of constant setup and takedown.
“The fact that boards had to be set up and taken down each time was a big obstacle. With data from HallMonitor, we worked with the clubs to create a permanent solution where the boards could stay up all winter in one hall – making it feasible to train here,” tells Jacob Drachmann Haag

– Jacob Drachmann Haag, Head of Activities & Hosting, Sport & Event Park Esbjerg
The reallocation of time and activities has created noticeable results. Activity levels in the hall increased by around 40% during winter. Football now occupies a full hall and is an integrated part of the centre.
The most in-demand hours between 17:00 and 21:00 are now used more effectively, bringing more life to the centre and to the town. Facility utilisation has improved, and more members now benefit from the same space – alongside new members joining. This also supports better operational efficiency day-to-day.
The data insights from HallMonitor have not only had an impact on allocation and activity – they have also helped strengthen the relationships between Sport & Event Park Esbjerg and the local associations in Bramming Culture and Leisure Centre. The dialogue has become more constructive because all parties have had the same basis to talk from. This has made it easier to make decisions because the associations could see that the changes were not random, but based on a shared data foundation. This has helped create mutual trust and understanding of how best to utilise shared facilities.
“We have used the data from HallMonitor as a basis for a good and factual conversation with the associations – and the fact that we all had the same data foundation made it much easier to find shared solutions,” says Jacob Drachmann Haag.
Sport & Event Park Esbjerg continues to use HallMonitor as a standard tool to measure activity, prepare dialogue with associations, and support decision-making processes across their facilities – including Bramming Culture and Leisure Centre.
“With HallMonitor, it is possible to support our dialogues and decisions with concrete knowledge about the use of the hall – instead of basing it on what we think or feel,” says Jacob Drachmann Haag from Sport & Event Park Esbjerg.
HallMonitor has therefore not only helped create overview and better utilisation, but also served as the foundation for a relationship based on trust between the stakeholders. It is a solution that has led to concrete improvements in everyday life and strengthened the long-term relationships between facility operations, data, and local users.
